Károly Mocsári

After graduating in 1985 at the Music Academy in the class of György Nádor, Károly Mocsári pursued his studies at the Curtis Institute in Philadephia (USA) as a student of Jorge Bolet. Later on he moved to Paris and participated in the master courses of Yvonne Lefébure.

He won several prizes in relevant international music competitions held in Athens, Barcelona and Montreal and was awarded in the Can Cliburn Competition in the USA and Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv. In 1986 he won first prize at Liszt Ferenc Piano Competition in Budapest and other awards of the Terence Judd Foundation and György Cziffra Foundation.

His international career was launched in 1984. Since then he has been starring in several world famous concert venues and performing as a soloist accompanied by the Manchester Hallé, the London Philharmonia, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Istanbul Chamber Orchestra, the New-Zealand Symphony, the Simón Bolívar Touth Orchestra of Venezuela, the Berlin Radio Orchestra, the Budapest Festival Orchestra and the National Philharmonic Orchestra.

He worked with the Israel and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra as well. Among his partners Youri Bashmet, Sir Andrew Davis, Dennis Russell Davies, David Grimal, Barbara Hendricks, Zoltán Kocsis, Jenő Jandó, Ken-Ichiro Kobayashi, Miklós Perényi, Mstislav Rostropovitch, Vladimir Spivakov, Sergei Nakariakov, Tamás Vásáry and the Keller The Takács-Nagy and the Tokyo Quartet sould ne mentioned. Along with Daniek Barenboïm, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Zoltán Kocsis and Itzhak Perlman he contributed to the sound track of a film about Brahms titled „Wären nicht die Frauen”, directed by János Darvas.  His Liszt and Bartók records have been highly appreciated by the international music press. Master courses held by him are popular and he regularly takes part in the juries of major international piano competitions. He has been working as art consultant for the Liszt Society in France.
