Liszt Ferenc International Piano Competition

It is quite possible that we will never know how Ferenc Liszt played the piano. Early descriptions say that no one could follow his footsteps. What is sure is that his personality, unique technique and composing skills still have an impact today. It is not surprising that the Academy of Music launched the first Ferenc Liszt International Piano Competition in 1933 led by Ernő Dohnányi, -featuring the talent of Liszt-, the first winner of which was Annie Fischer, Dohnányi’s student. The tradition, – just as the genius of Liszt- is binding, therefore, the Ferenc Liszt International Piano Competition is one of the most prestigious Hungarian and international events. The competition, which is housed by the Liszt Academy and is juried by the most famous piano players of the world, gives an unforgettable experience both for competing musicians and for the audience, as well. This year, a new winner can follow the footsteps of Ferenc Liszt and Annie Fischer.
